CHRISTIAN MISSION FOSTER - HOMES FOR ORPHANS – SIERRA LEONE

Christian Mission Foster Homes for Orphans (CMFO) is a non-governmental, non - political and non - profit making venture set up purposely to help in alleviating the suffering of war - affected children such as orphans, abandoned and distressed street children, and children of both Lunatic & amputated parents.

"CMF$$O" was founded on the 5th of April 1999 as a result of the carnage and mayhem perpetrated against poor and innocent children in January 6, 1999. This date was recorded for its horrible events just as September 11, 2001 in America.
THE STATE OF WAR,-AFFECTED CHILDREN IN SIERRA LEONE
In Sierra Leone, the ten (10) years bloody civil war has left thousands of children orphaned, abandoned, handicapped, unaccompanied, displaced or in refugees. Many of these children are on the streets been used as sex trade and victims of various forms of abuse to earn their living.
Child abuse has reached epidemic proportions in our country. During the war, many of these children were adopted and giving drugs and used as child soldiers. The war is now over but suffering continues for these children and special preference to girls. Most of our children are not going to school.
They are living in poor health conditions because of lack of adequate food, no good clothing and poor shelter. Their parents or guardians cannot afford the amount of money needed to pay school fees. They are either unemployed or too old to work.

Children's village of Grasi

Since 1995 the children's village of Grasi has housed in the Latvian countryside about thirty orphans and children from distressful social backgrounds. With each passing year, it has become a leading force in children's aid. The goal of this institution is to allow the children to get over the difficulties they've known, to open up, and to facilitate their integration into society.

LAP Orphan Home - India

I am P.Anil Kumar, a resident of Ponnur, Guntur Dt., Andhra Pradesh , South India. I have been ministering Gospel service and worship of Lord for several years. Since my parents born in Christian family. I was greatly insisted to serve for the human kind with the same inspiration. I was called by His grace to do something for the welfare of the little kids and orphans while we go on with Gospel out reach service in different rural villages, we have observed some children just roaming in streets like wagabonds with no support. These children parents were killed in some assassinations such as fire accidents, cyclones and the attacks of anti Christian community people in their respective areas. Thus the children are left helpless and looking forward for any lift even their relatives also have neglected them to bring up the livinghood of these kids.

Bishop Judith Craig Children's Village

The orphaned boys and girls of Liberia have reason to hope. The enormously ambitious project of the United Methodist Church, the Bishop Judith Craig Children's Village, aims to give them the love and upbringing deserved by children of God.
The misery of Liberia's orphans must no longer be ignored; it must be challenged, battled, and defeated. The neglect and abuse in their lives must be replaced by loving care and opportunity for the future.
Won't you join hands with the Village parents, the staff, and the community of benefactors, as the Village children grow into healthy, successful adults?
This site provides you with comprehensive, current information about the Village. Check it frequently for updates. Please join a mailing list to get the latest news about the Village; send a note to club-orphan@jmu.edu with "add to list" as the subject.

German Roman Catholic Orphan Home

This website is dedicated to the thousands of boys and girls who at one time or another called 564 Dodge Street "home". Whether you were a resident for three months, three years or, as in some cases, more than a decade, you were a part of the "family."

The site is also dedicated to the good Sisters of St. Francis of Williamsville who served as our guardians throughout our time at the home and who taught us right from wrong and instilled within us good Christian values.

Anyone associated with 564 Dodge St. over the years have been a integral part of our lives. You could have been a nun, a teacher, a super-visor, a scoutmaster, a classmate, or just a friend, but for a brief moment in time, you touched our lives.

Even though years have passed, we can still recall such names as "Pop" Deinhart, Joseph Bleckinger, Miss O'Brien, Mr. Riley, Walter Scott, Miss Burgasser, Frank Abbott, Anthony Weibel, George Weinfurtner and so many others.

All of you touched our lives and molded us into the individuals we are today. We thank you most sincerely for all that you gave to us.

A CHILD'S HOPE FOUNDATION

SAVING LIVES, BUILDING FAMILIES
Today, there are millions of children in underdeveloped countries who have no parents, food, clothing, or access to medical or emotional care. While the majority of these children are dying from malnutrition, their living conditions are so poor that even diaper rash can be deadly. This situation is not isolated; in fact, it is growing at an ever-increasing pace.

In contrast, there are thousands of families in developed countries trying to adopt. However, they are faced with a complicated and cost prohibitive adoption process. This gap continues to widen as more children die and families struggle to find the resources to adopt.

A Child's Hope Foundation is bridging this gap by creating adoption orphanages and providing a healthy environment for infants and young children, awakening their spirits while seeking a loving family for them. With your help we can save lives, build families, and be a child's hope for love and belonging in this world!

AVADI ORPHAN HOME

This Children's Home was founded by Rev. Dr. Chelliah Russelliah in 1991 at Avadi, Chennai. It is one of the ministries of Gilgal Gospal Mission (GGM) and the first home for children opened by GGM in India. GGM missionaries implement GGM's vision Preaching Christ and Planting Churches" in these Provinces Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh.) Kodaloor, Thiruvannamalai, Erode, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur (Tamilnadu).
Our missionaries come across three staggering evils in the remote villages of these Provinces. They are namely infanticide, child marriage and child beggars. If a mother consecutively gives birth to female babies the third child becomes a victim of infanticide The mother is afriad of the existing evil dowry. She worries that she will not be able to give a big sum of dowry for her girl's wedding. So after the second child she determines to kill the next female baby. She uses a simple method of applying some drops of opium or country poison on her breasts and feeds the baby and kills her. Some of our Children's Home children were rescued from this cruel practice of infanticide.

Secondly still child marriage is practiced in several interior and remote villages of these provinces. A girl child in marriage at the age of 9. The sadness of the child marriage is a 9 year old child getting married with a 30 year old man. Some of our children who are saved from this inhuman act of child marriage. Thirdly some evil hearted men in rural villages hurt children. They cripple the orhan children, make use of them for begging. These evil doers make their living and business through childern's begging. Some of our childen were brought out of this child begging business.

DC Immunization Welfare Center

DC Immunization Welfare Center (DCIWC) shares the heartwarming feeling derived from helping poor children lead healthy lives. DCIWC received tax-exempt status in December 2003 and provided vaccinations to more than 750 children since December 2003. The purpose of the DC Immunization Welfare Center (DCIWC) is to provide vaccination not limited to measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), diphtheria, polio, tetanus (DPT), whooping cough, and hepatitis B, through organized events to poor and needy children free of cost who cannot otherwise afford them. DCIWC has initiated activities in the state of Bihar, India, where children rarely receive immunization due to poor economic conditions and lack of education. Knowledge of immunization is far beyond many parents in the poorer areas of India. The Washington Post recently reported that 57% of women in India give birth at home attended by untrained health care providers. DCIWC's goal is to reach out to those parents and educate them about the importance of vaccination. http://www.dciwc.org/index.html DC Immunization and Welfare Center Mailing Address: 12331 Quince Valley Drive, North Potomac, MD 20878 Phone Number: 301-990-9562

DOCTOR - NDTV FREE TREATMENT

India's state-run AIDS control agency has nearly doubled the number of clinics giving free anti-retroviral drugs to tackle the fallout of the infection in the country with the world's most cases. Ninety-one centres are now operational from 54 about six months ago, and the number was expected to touch 100 by March, according to he the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO). About 85,000 people were expected to take up the offer of free anti-retrovirals at the government health centres over the next six months, up from the 40,000 now. All 91 centres have specially trained and appointed doctors, counsellors and laboratory technicians to help initiate patients on ART (anti-retroviral treatment) and follow up regularly. India has the world's highest HIV/AIDS caseload at 5.7 million people, according to UNAIDS. Activists say the government needs to set up more free treatment centres at a rapid pace because many poor HIV-infected people cannot afford to buy drugs from private chemists. The ARV drugs from private retailers cost around 1,400 rupees ($31) a month, prohibitive for most people in a country where the average monthly income is around 1,750 rupees. Besides the 40,000 Indians currently receiving free drugs from government centres, gigantic public sector organisations such as the railways provide nearly 10,000 people free treatment.

Education

Education Building
Originally uploaded by my_new_wintercoat
Talented and capable young people in developing nations often lack opportunities for basic education and vocational training, as well as the confidence, self-esteem, and interpersonal skills necessary to succeed in life and to break the cycle of poverty into which they were born.

Family Care Foundation equips these young people to make their way in the world. Then they become part of the long-term solution for the needs of their greater community.

Family Care Foundation provides both free academic education and on-the-job training in trades such as computer assembly and repair, electrical engineering, sewing and design, furniture construction and carpentry. Students also learn about people handling, teamwork, time-management, efficiency, personal development and presentation skills.

Family Care Foundation (FCF)

Family Care Foundation addressing the AIDS pandemic at the grassroots level
HIV AIDS is the single biggest catastrophe in history. AIDS will kill an estimated 70 million people over the next 20 years.
95% of all people with HIV/AIDS live in developing nations. HIV AIDS has infected huge percentages of whole communities, and has orphaned millions of children.
Working at the grassroots level, Family Care Foundation strengthens communities through education and prevention, and promotes economic empowerment of caregivers and families.
Family Care Foundation project partners provide care and comfort for those afflicted with AIDS, through AIDS awareness seminars, health programs and counseling in schools, prisons and other institutions.
Other activities include school health programs, free medical treatment and medications, and programs for AIDS orphans.

SIVANANDA SARASWATHI SEVASHRAM-INDIA

Started with only three children in a thatched shed, the Gurukulam now has its own buildings and infrastructure that can maintain a big family of more than 400 human beings of all ages. It has developed into a big humanitarian center with various units primarily working for the cause of poor and destitute.
ALL THE 300 ORPHANED KIDS HAVE THE SUPPORT OF THE 80 ODD SENIOR CITIZENS WHO THEMSELVES ARE NEGLECTED BY THEIR KITH AND KIN. THE KIDS DO NOT FEEL THAT THEY ARE BORN AS ORPHANS AND THEY CAN SELECT ONE OR MORE OF THE 80 OLD PERSONS AS THEIR FATHER, MOTHER, GRANDMA OR GRANDPA. IN RETURN THE OLD GET LOVE AND AFFECTION FROM MORE THAN 300 TINY TOTS AND SHARE THEIR JOY WITH THEM, WHICH THEY NEED AT THIS JUNCTURE OF THEIR LIFE. THERE IS A TRANSFORMATION OF LOVE AND AFFECTION BY BOTH THE KIDS AND THE ELDERS. ON FESTIVAL OCCASIONS THE KIDS GET BLESSINGS AND THE YOUNG ONES FEEL THAT THEY ARE CARED. http://www.sivanandagurukul.org/contribution.htm
